Back to the Mountains – Lassen Volcanic and Yosemite National Parks, CA

I started the month of May with a visit to Lassen, walking on the road that is still closed to vehicles, from the Devastated Area on the north on one day, and from the Sulphur Works near the south entrance the next. The road will probably not be open to traffic all the way through the Park until late July, so going in on foot will be an option for a while still.

I ended the month with a visit to Yosemite with my husband, just a quick overnight to see and hear the waterfalls, and we drove up to Glacier Point (the day the road re-opened after another late spring snowstorm) for the first time in many years. We did just enough walking to capture some spectacular park features.

We are so lucky to live in a state with so much mountain beauty, so easily accessible.
