Magical Carpets – Carrizo Plain National Monument, CA

April 23, 2019 by Deborah W. Trotter

During the first week of April we returned to another of our favorite places in California, the Carrizo Plain National Monument, hoping to see wildflowers. We were not disappointed, and I would say this was our best year ever in the area. Within the monument, and on highways approaching from east and west, nature’s displays were spectacular. Fellow flower fanciers talk of super blooms. To me the flower fields look like magical carpets of brilliant colors dropped onto the hillsides.

The photos below were taken on two days, April 2 and 4, 2019, in and around the Carrizo Plain. Enjoy!

If you ever get a chance to visit the Carrizo Plain when the area is blooming – go! Seeing is believing, and being there is unforgettable.

Happy National Park Week to all!
