Kings Canyon National Park, CA – Fire Escape
2November 28, 2015 by Deborah W. Trotter
Although the Rough Fire burned for months this past summer and fall and ravaged Kings Canyon National Park,
I am relieved to report that the ancient, giant Sequoias in the Grant Grove are still standing as they have for centuries. The fire came within a few hundred yards of the trees, but as you walk beneath them through the grove, you are not aware of that. You can still lose yourself in their magnificence, marveling at the length of time they have stood and at all of the history that has unfolded during their lifetimes.
The fires have been so devastating, it is so good to know there are still things we can be grateful for
I agree and would include the rain and snow we have been getting here on the west coast in that category, too!
