Kings Canyon National Park, CA – Fire Escape

Although the Rough Fire burned for months this past summer and fall and ravaged Kings Canyon National Park,

I am relieved to report that the ancient, giant Sequoias in the Grant Grove are still standing as they have for centuries.  The fire came within a few hundred yards of the trees, but as you walk beneath them through the grove, you are not aware of that.  You can still lose yourself in their magnificence, marveling  at the length of time they have stood and at all of the history that has unfolded during their lifetimes.
