In my final post of 2012 I laid out my goal for this year of hiking at least 60 miles of National Park trails that I had never hiked before. At that time I had some ideas of where I might take these hikes, but no definitive plans. As the year played out, it was my extreme pleasure to hike and enjoy over 65 miles of trails new to me in ten western National Parks, three of which I had never explored before and probably would not have visited this year, but for my goal. During the course of visiting these ten Parks we were also able to hike some familiar trails, and I am thrilled to say that I visited Lassen and Yosemite National Parks four times each in 2013. It was truly a National Parks year, and my goal for 2014 is to hike at least 61 miles in National Parks, but the trails need not be new to me. In fact I am looking forward to hiking some old favorites.

Below is a photographic summary of the ten National Parks whose trails allowed me to turn my 2013 goal into reality.
