National Parks Week – Priceless!

April 22, 2013 by Deborah W. Trotter

Lassen Autumn - Mount LassenToday, April 22, through this Friday, April 26, entry fees will be waived at National Parks throughout the United States. According to the National Park Foundation, everyone in the U.S. lives within approximately 100 miles of a National Park, so if you have transportation, you have no excuse not to visit one this week!

Living in the San Francisco Bay Area in California puts me in a National Park System paradise. Nearby we have the Golden Gate National Recreation AreaFort Point - surf and GG Bridge
and Point Reyes National Seashore.DSCN1750
To the south is Pinnacles National Park,DSCN1887
to the southeast is Yosemite National Park,DSCN1818
northeast is Lassen Volcanic National Park,Lassen Park - Manzanita Lake with boat
and there are many more distant (from me) National Parks and Monuments within the borders of our state.

But California is just one state. Our country is rich in the natural treasure protected by our National Parks, and they belong to all of us. (You can link to websites for all Parks I have posted about on this blog by clicking on my “Park Links” tab above.)

So, where will you go this week?
